Undergraduate Researcher
Sai Manikanta Eswar Machara
B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering
Hello, I'm Sai Manikanta Eswar Machara, a final-year undergraduate student in Computer Science and Engineering at Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) in Nuzvid, India. My research interests are in Medical Imaging, Computational Biology, and Computer Vision, areas where I have been spending most of my time over the past couple of years, learning, building, and slowly finding my direction.
I started with Medical Imaging, working on problems like Cardiac analysis, Thyroid Nodule Segmentation, and Histopathology and more recently I have been getting into Computational Biology and Computational Pathology, which I find equally exciting. I am drawn to problems that are grounded in Clinical Reality, where the work has to hold up not just technically but in a setting where it actually affects people.
Along the way, I have had some good experiences - three papers at A*-ranked computer vision and medical imaging venues (ICCV 2025, and two workshop papers accepted at MICCAI 2026), a few competition placements, and research collaborations that have taught me how to think more carefully about the problems I pick and the methods I use. I am grateful for the mentors and collaborators who have guided me, and I am excited to continue learning and contributing to this field.
I am planning to pursue a PhD in Medical Imaging or Computational Biology directly after my B.Tech. My goal is to do research that sits close to clinical practice, the kind of work where the questions come from real problems and the results can find their way back to them.
